40 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2024 Ransom Everglades welcomed six new additions to its alumni professional community for the 2024-25 school year: Thor Andreassen ’17, Renee Burke ’10, Ale Cappello ’15, Marisa Fort ’98, Daisha Holton ’14 and Thomas Willis ’04 arrived at RE to serve in a variety of roles. Andreassen teaches mathematics; Burke, health and wellness; Cappello is an Admission Associate; Fort teaches architecture; Holton is teaching science; and Thomas is the Director of Middle School Athletics. The talented alumni join five alumni that hold leadership positions at the school: David Clark ’86 , Chief Operating Ransom Everglades launched its first annual Summer Institute for Teachers in June, welcoming faculty, administrators and private tutors for two days of seminars led by RE faculty at the upper school. The small-group sessions were designed to help attendees elevate their educational impact by connecting, collaborating and creating with fellow educators. Attendees enjoyed interactive, timely and practical sessions including “AI in Classroom Instruction” and “Successful Homework Practices,” both of which helped faculty to focus on how education has shifted after the pandemic and the new ways New faculty at RE at the start of professional community meetings in August. First annual Summer Institute for Teachers offers connection and collaboration teachers need to meet students where they are. Institute Director Matthew Helmers and RE faculty member Adam Schachner taught on “Setting Socratic Norms, Ritual and Belonging.” Another highly-reviewed session was “Mindfulness and Teaching the Whole Student,” which was offered by Director of Counseling Isis Perez-Gonzalez and Admission Associate Carla Hill and focused on how to foster belonging and excitement in the classroom.
