SPRING 2026 Ransom Everglades LOG 35 Three district titles for RE golfers With a mix of young stars and accomplished seniors, Ransom Everglades boys’ and girls’ golf teams continued to post strong results at highlevel events. For the second straight year, the teams won district titles on the same day at the 1A District 15 Championships, and Cole Durham ’29 won the boys’ individual title as a ninth grader. At the October 27 championships at the Miami Shores Country Club, the boys’ team under Dave Ragan also included three of the top four finishers, and the girls’ team under Roberta Neves included three of the top five. The girls team went on to finish in fourth place in the regional championships and 10th at the state meet. The boys team finished sixth in the region and eighth at the state championships. The boys’ team has won five consecutive district titles under Ragan. Durham led the field with a threeunder-par 68, Matteo Bloom ’26 tied for second place with a 72, Hugo Stenstrom ’26 finished in fourth place Six Ransom Everglades honored six student-athletes who will continue their sports in college with a ceremonial signing celebration on February 11 in the Anderson gymnasium. Edwin Carr ’26 is heading to Pomona College to play football; Torin Davis ’26 to Williams College for crew; Johanna James ’26 to Amherst College to play soccer; Carlos Lavernia ’26 to Johns Hopkins University Celebratory sendoff for RE athletes to play football; Ava McAliley ’26 to Stanford University to sail; and Max Wolfensberger ’26 to Harvard University to sail. “It’s a celebration of dedication, perseverance and the countless hours of hard work that these six student-athletes have poured into their craft,” Upper School Athletic Director Scott Berman said. “College opportunities like these are not given, they are built.” Scott Berman, Carlos Lavernia ’26, Edwin Carr ’26, Johanna James ’26, Ava McAliley ’26, Max Wolfensberger ’26, Torin Davis ’26 with a 74 and Navraj Suri ’26 rounded out the team scoring with a 75. Ella Wester ’28 led the girls’ team with a 72 for second overall, Nina Fischer ’29 shot a 74 for third place, and Misha Gowda ’28 nabbed fifth place with a 76. Esha Nagalla ’29 rounded out the scoring with an 85.
