RE LOG Spring '25
SPRING 2025 Ransom Everglades LOG 55 Ruben Millares recently released his eighth studio album titled Wait for It . The twelve-song LP was recorded in Woodstock, N.Y., with his band at Applehead Recording with engineer Chris Bittner and at Utopia Studios with engineer Pete Caigan, both Grammy Award-winning talent. The record is available for streaming and purchase on all major music platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. You can check out some of his previous releases under the band Smiling Gums and Chicken Liquor. Antonia Wright Millares writes, “ Ruben Millares and I created ‘Banned Pending Investigation,’ a new performance addressing the alarming rise of book bans in the U.S., particularly in Florida, where more than 4,500 titles have been banned in 2024 alone. For this iteration of the piece, local high school students collaborate with the artists to construct a wall of currently and historically banned books. They run through the wall and knock them down. By tearing down walls of books with our bodies, we physically and metaphorically tackle the societal and bureaucratic barriers that continuously devalue the arts and education in our society. “RE students Alexis Barna ’25 and Haile Ferrentino ’25 assisted with constructing the wall of books [pictured below]. The performance is presently in conversation with the exhibition ‘Truth, Old Past,’ curated by Omar Lopez Chahoud. We are grateful to the Books & Books Literary Foundation for their support in donating books to ‘Banned Pending Investigation.’” Dinesh Sakhrani attended the NYC Alumni Reception at the Yale Club.
