The victory was the fourth straight for the RE boys’ team. For the girls, Khvorostiana shot an even-par 71; Ella Wester ’28 , shot 79 (+8) for third; Esha Nagalla ’29 , scored 81 (+10) for fifth; and Abby Pollak ’26 and Lillian Zijin Liu ’27 each shot an 83 (+12) to tie for sixth under coach Roberta Neves and assistant Christian Ferreira. For the boys, Jesse Hellring ’25 shot a 73 (+2) for second, and Cole Durham ’29 and Navraj Suri ’26 finished in a four-way tie for fourth with 75 (+4). Axel Monssoh ’30 shot a 76 (+5) and Matteo Bloom ’25 , 77 (+6). RE’s boys finished fourth in the region and 11th at the state meet under coach Dave Ragan, who was named the Miami-Dade Golf Coach of the Year by the Miami Herald . Historic season for RE swimmers RE swimmers broke three school records at one of the most successful state meets in school history. At the Nov. 15 Class 1A Florida High School Athletic Association State Championship in Ocala, Kiera Rampersad ’25 set the record in the 100-meter butterfly with her second-place finish in 54.76 seconds, breaking a 10-year-old RE mark. Nohan Gomez ’25 broke a five-year- old record in the boys’ 100 fly, finishing in 50.94 on his way to eighth overall. And the team of Lincoln Broad ’26, Jay Holly ’26, Ethan Sullivan ’25 and Gomez posted a time of 1 minute, 28.80 seconds in the 200 freestyle relay on their way to 15th, breaking a school mark set in 2016. The athletes competed under RE coach Franz Huggins, also head coach of the RE Aquatic Club. At the 1A District 15 Championships on Oct. 29, Gomez and Rampersad each earned four gold medals and the boys’ earned their 11th straight district title. Gomez led RE sweeps of two individual races: the 100 butterfly (51.73) and 100 backstroke (53.80). Gomez also helped RE to victory in the 400 free relay and the 200 free relay in 1:30.23 with Broad, Sullivan and Holly. Rampersad won gold in the 100-yard butterfly (55.67) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.63), and she helped two relay teams to gold: the 200 individual medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
