RE Log - Spring 2024
SPRING 2024 Ransom Everglades LOG 61 Luz Stella Perez de Corcho writes, “Ahoy Sailors! Plot twist, I am STOKED to share that I have accepted a new position with Virgin Voyages as the Manager - Entertainment Facility & Rehearsal Operations! “Back in March, I sailed aboard Virgin’s Scarlet Lady and I absolutely fell in love. If you spoke to me at all after I got off that ship you KNOW how much I adored it. I am honored to be joining their crew and to be part of such a transformational entertainment and hospitality company. “For those wondering about my role at Disney, don’t worry, I’m not jumping ship quite yet. I am pleased to say that I will remain with Magic Kingdom, on a seasonal status, as an Entertainment Manager. I will always love Disney, and my time here has been nothing short of magical. Disney took a little girl’s dreams and made them a reality, and for that, I am eternally grateful. The most important part of my journey at Disney has hands down been the opportunity to help amplify the voices of others. I can now see the dreams of thousands of other kids coming true every day, and THAT is magic. I have the best memories and coolest learning moments that I will take with me wherever I go. See ya real soon!” William Hector’s new immersive play, G7: 2070 , premiered in October at The Kampong. It was produced with support from the Knight Foundation as a Knight NewWork Miami winning project. The premise of the show is a G7 summit set 50 years in the future, where audience members will become delegates for the U.S., China, Europe, Ethiopia, Russia, Uruguay and The Walt Disney Nation as they meet with one another and decide the fate of the world amid a climate crisis. He shares, “My passion for theater can be traced directly back to my time at Ransom Everglades, as can the wide- ranging current events and history focus of this show, given all the excellent social studies, English and cross-curricular opportunities RE offered.” 2012 Class Ambassadors: Manuel Al Abdallah ( manuel.abdallah@gmail.com) , Maria Mesa (mcmesai@gmail.com ), Marli Scharlin (mscharlin@gmail.com ), Max Weiss (mweiss@eirpartners.com ) Ashleigh Johnson ’12 , see page 40 Max Weiss and his wife, Kara, have moved back to Miami from New York.
