SPRING 2024 Ransom Everglades LOG 21 The Stieglitz Family Blackie Stieglitz ’54 Mimi (Dommerich) Stieglitz ’63 John Stieglitz ’98 Robbie Stieglitz ’28 Blackie passed aways a few weeks after joining his family for this interview and photo. Blackie: I’mmore and more convinced that Ransom Everglades is a leader in excellence in education, and to see it working out through our family is fantastic. It’s something permanent, providing such a rich environment for kids here. My favorite spot on campus was where the cannon is. Right outside the dining hall. You could see down to the bay. I enjoyed that it was a boys’ school. The camaraderie that evolved out of that is a lifetime experience. Mimi: I enjoyed it all. I can’t think of one special memory. To me this is the best school to be in for middle school and high school. The free time on campus was nice, and I did enjoy various classes. I adored [math teacher] Lois Styles. She was funny, she was smart and because of her I decided to be a math teacher. It did not work out once I got to calculus. My favorite memory was the morning ceremony, raising the flag on top of the hill. That’s where everyone drove up. People coming from South Bayshore would go up the hill. You could see the bay across what was a field and tennis courts. It was beautiful. John: The RE education provides a unique combination of life preparation for college and beyond with community service and the fostering of lifelong friendships. By striving to have each and every student realize their full potential, the RE education helps students go above and beyond in all areas of life. There isn’t one specific memory that stands out, as there were numerous favorite memories frommy time spent at RE. As time goes on, the years spent at RE blend together into one incredible period of time in my life that I’ll fondly look back on forever. Robbie: My favorite memories are probably the time I’ve spent on the field and basketball courts, playing basketball, lacrosse and football. “My favorite memory was the morning ceremony, raising the flag on top of the hill.” – Mimi (Dommerich) Stieglitz ’63 “As time goes on, the years spent at RE blend together into one incredible period of time in my life that I’ll fondly look back on forever.” – John Stieglitz ’98 “I’m more and more convinced thatRansom Everglades is a leader in excellence in education, and to see it working out through our family is fantastic.” – Blackie Stieglitz ’54 Robbie Stieglitz ’28
