RE Log - Spring 2024
SPRING 2024 Ransom Everglades LOG 15 The Gans Family Marcy Abess Gans ’62 Stephen Gans ’89 Levi Gans ’22 Marcy passed away at age 31 in 1976 when her son Stephen was four. In her senior yearbook, she shared that she liked “art, clothes, making people happy.” Marcy also quoted poet James Russell Lowell: “She doeth little kindnesses which most leave undone.” Stephen: Every student who comes out of Ransom Everglades is uniquely prepared to handle a college courseload and all of the ancillary things you have to deal with at college. Ransom Everglades does a great job of preparing the kids for success – that is why I would tell anyone to send their children here. My favorite spot on campus was the quad. My best memories are all of the great friends and connections I made during my time there. Levi: At RE, I learned how to study, I learned how to listen, I learned how to take notes. I also learned how to make new friends, talk to people, talk to my teachers and respect my teachers. All of that has taken me through college [University of Pennsylvania] very well, and I think it will take me through life afterwards. My best memory is probably playing on the football team under RC (Roger Caron) and JC (Jake Caron). I’ve learned to be a better man through them, and I’ve learned values through the team. The guys on the team are still my best friends to this day. My favorite spot on campus is probably the Senior Deck; it was a fun senior year, and we created a lot of memories there. “Ransom Everglades does a great job of preparing the kids for success – that is why I would tell anyone to send their children here.” – Stephen Gans “At RE, I learned how to study, I learned how to listen, I learned how to take notes.
