46 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2024 Greetings and Goodbyes New trustees come aboard as award-winner departs School leaders welcomed four new trustees – Bill Bermont ’93 , Jorge A. Gross Jr. ’97 , Kristen McMahon and Camilo Miguel Jr. – and one returning trustee, Albert E. Dotson Jr., to the 2024-25 Ransom Everglades Board of Trustees on July 1, 2024. Their arrival coincided with the elevation of Miguel F. Dueñas ’95 from board treasurer to chair, and the conclusion of the two- year term of Jonathan Fitzpatrick as chair. Ricky Stokes ’94 stepped in as vice-chair. The final board meeting of 2023-24 also included the departure of Rudy Prio Touzet ’76 , the recipient of the 2024 Head of School’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Service to the School, who stepped down from the board after 15 years of service (see page 68). Kinga Lampert also stepped aside after six years of service on the board, and Elana Oberstein-Harris ’93 remained on the board but concluded her term as vice-chair. “We are grateful to Jonathan, Rudy, Kinga and Elana for their outstanding service to our school and leadership in the larger community,” Head of School Rachel Rodriguez said. “We are also thrilled to welcome an outstanding group of new trustees to the board, as well as Miguel as chair and Ricky as vice-chair. All are talented, accomplished, community-minded and service-driven. We know they will help Ransom Everglades continue to live out The RE Way, the school’s mission and core values.” Here’s a look at RE’s newest board members: Bermont is Managing Director at Raymond James and Partner of Bermont Gold Wealth Advisory and serves on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. He earned a BA in history from Duke; an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern, and an MS in Accountancy from Loyola University of Chicago. He proudly presents the Ronni Weksler Bermont Community Service Award, which was established in loving memory of his mother, to a deserving student annually. Dotson, who previously served on the RE board from 2008- 17, is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Bilzin Sumberg, a Miami-based commercial law firm. He serves on leadership boards or councils for Vanderbilt Law School, the Florida Council of 100 and the Baptist Health South Florida Miami Cancer Institute. Dotson received his BA from Dartmouth College and JD from Vanderbilt University. Gross is Managing Partner at Trivest Partners, where he leads Trivest Recognition Fund investments. He joined Trivest in 2006 and is involved in all aspects of the firm, including the organization of investment opportunities, completing acquisitions, portfolio oversight and firmmanagement. He is a member of Trivest’s Investment Committee and serves as chair or board member of numerous Trivest portfolio companies. He received a BA in economics from Columbia University and MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. McMahon is deeply involved in service activities and philanthropic endeavors. She serves as co-chair of the annual gala for City Harvest and has served on the boards of 15 Madison Square North Condominium in New York, as Program Coordinator for Family Dynamics Youth Mentoring Program, on the “Paddle for Pink” Host Committee for the Breast Cancer Research Fund, and on the Host Committee of Autism Speaks. She received her BA in Modern American History from Brown University.  Miguel is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mast Capital, a vertically integrated real estate investment and development firm with a global vision. He serves on the board the Perez Art MuseumMiami, The Center for Arts and Innovation, Friends of the Underline, and the Real Estate Advisory Board of the University of Miami, and he contributes to the Urban Land Institute’s Southeast Florida Advisory Board and Urban Development and Mixed-Use Council.
