RE LOG Fall 2024
FALL 2024 Ransom Everglades LOG 35 RE upper school drama program sets a high bar with Chicago RE drama students are so talented and accomplished they needed two separate casts for the upper school spring production of Chicago on April 10-13. From the magnificent leads on alternating nights – Gabrielle Lieberman ’24 and Jaerla Sajous ’25, Emma Holtzman ’24 and Lucia Soto ’24 , and Henry Berler ’25 and Armando Segrera ’25 – to the brilliant supporting roles and staging, the production made the Lewis Family Auditorium indistinguishable from a Broadway theater. The four performances drew large crowds and showcased the incredible depth and sophistication of drama at Ransom Everglades. Chicago demanded a stage full of talent, and RE students provided it. Besides the leads (who performed either Wednesday and Friday, or Thursday and Saturday), RE students filled 16 major roles and an 18-member ensemble. Ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th graders played various roles, filling the auditorium with tap-along renditions of the legendary tunes: “Cell Block Tango,” “Roxie,” “All that Jazz” and others. Nearly three dozen students assisted on the production crew or with set design. Nine performed the live music that accompanied the production, and performing arts teacher Laura Montes directed the performance.
