Valerie Nahmad Schimel was 305 Hive’s Local Business Buzz winner of 2023. Valerie’s company, Joju, launched in October 2022. Joju makes fashion-for- ward sun protective clothing that is super soft, ultra-lightweight and UPF 50+. From the 305 Hive newsletter: “The idea to produce sun-protective clothing came about during Covid-19 since Valerie was spending so much of her time outdoors. She wanted to wear sun protection but couldn’t find something just right, so she decided to make her own. Joju currently offers their signature product, a women’s sun shirt, and they will be rolling out additional styles soon. Valerie lives in Miami Beach, and her local company is also supporting other local companies as her pattern maker is from Miami, and her fabric is made in Hialeah. He has been named the ACC Coach of the Year three times and was twice named the Wilson ITA Atlantic Region Head Coach of the Year. His players have earned three ACC Player of the Year awards, four All-America designations and 13 All- ACC honors.
