RE Log Spring 2023

32 Ransom Everglades LOG SPRING 2023 Raider Pride The RE community came out in force for Homecoming 2022 Ransom Everglades invited RE alumni, family and friends to a special Homecoming 2022 on October 7 that was part-sports night, part-carnival, part-community gathering – and full-on fun. From the first volleyball match to the concluding varsity football game that ended with a come from behind victory, it was a day of special moments and lasting memories. The week leading up to the Friday night homecoming included pep rallies, spirited campus events and “Dig Pink” fundraising and culminated in a full slate of sports events and various other entertainment. Alumni, parents, grandparents, students and RE friends flocked to the upper school campus to watch the varsity football team claim a 20-17 victory over Mater Academy Charter on Walker field. They sampled a host of middle school and upper school volleyball games – part of the Dig Pink volleyball tournament in the Anderson gym – and a swimmeet at the Ansin Aquatic Center. They also purchased local delicacies from several food trucks and the Raider concession stand, and enjoyed music performed by RE students. “If you attended Homecoming 2022... you were surely inspired by the jubilant display of Raider Pride and RE spirit,” Interim Head of School Rachel Rodriguez said. “We are so grateful to everyone who made this week come to life.” The Anderson gym – and much of the campus – was decked out in pink hues. A week after sending nearly $5,000 to Hurricane Ian victims, RE students collected more than $7,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in the lead-up to the Dig Pink tournament. RE also welcomed three extraordinary athletes – John P. Geraghty ’73, Lola Arellano Pegg ’93 and Ashleigh E. Johnson ’12 – into the RE Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony the night before the homecoming games. Read more about that celebration on page 39. On Campus
