FALL 2023 Ransom Everglades LOG 67 experiences. Cai is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who tells vérité stories at the intersection of location, self-determination and identity about Black youth and elders. Her most recent film, Change The Name , supported by P&G and Tribeca Studios through Queen Latifah’s Queen Collective, had its world premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Festival. Prior to that, her film Queenie premiered at NewFest and won the NY Short Grand Jury award and is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel. Together, these two alumnae led Leading With Love’s third annual cultural immersion experience to the Dominican Republic where the organi- zation worked for six days with 100 girls in the town of Miches through a partner- ship with a local Dominican nonprofit organization, Soy Nina, Soy Importante, and its local Miami community partner, Dibia DREAM. Leading With Love led Social Emotional Learning workshops that helped the girls build confidence and discover their potential. The organiza- tion also facilitated STEM workshops in which they helped the girls design and build water rockets. Global Love Leaders also volunteered at an animal shelter and engaged in several authentic cross-cul- tural experiences with the girls, enabling them to grow as leaders and individuals. Cai captured the experience on film. Leading With Love is proud to be able to provide opportunities for young girls to push be- yond the boundaries of their comfort zone and discover the beauty and diversity outside of their com- munities. They believe that when young girls are given the opportunity to see the world, their idea of self, their ability to dream, and their sheer potential become limitless.
