92 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2022 In Loving Memory Iturrieta Bermúdez, daughter Florinda Bermúdez, sons “EJ” Evelio Jose Bermúdez and Carlos Manuel Bermúdez, and stepson, Joseph Lede. He was predeceased by daughter María Verónica Bermúdez and son Pedro Bermúdez. Former trustee Sarah Lane Bonner passed away on June 15, 2022, at the age of 94. Sarah was born in Miami on January 25, 1928. She graduated from The University of Florida in the first class of coeds, where she and her friends founded a chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority. There she met her husband, Robert Coy Bonner Jr. After graduation, Sarah and Bob moved to Key Biscayne, Fla., and started a family. Their son, Robert III was born in 1952, daughter Lane in 1953, and son Clifton, in 1967. For most of their married years in Florida, they resided in Coral Gables. As a young mother, Sarah’s own mother passed away. She devotedly watched over her father and brother, William Lane Jr., who was then a bach- elor, along with her own growing family. During this time, she was a member of the Junior League of Miami. She was also a member and president of Beaux- Arts, a group that provides support for Dr. Bermúdez with members of RE Classes of ’96, ’97, ’98 and ’99 the Lowe Art Museum. In addition, she helped start the Miami Museum of Science and Natural History. Sarah was on the board of trustees for Ransom- Everglades School and of the Greater Miami Philharmonic. She also taught second and fourth grades to new Cuban immigrant children for three years, which she found very rewarding. For de- cades, Sarah was a trustee and president of The Dunspaugh-Dalton Foundation, which was created by her father. She retired at age 89. In 1977, the whole family moved to Pebble Beach, Calif. Their new lives in Pebble Beach brought many new friends and adventures. Sarah’s philanthropy in Monterey County earned her much praise, recognition, and adoration. Sarah leaves behind a loving family. Kevin Fong ’91 passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, in Palm Beach Gardens. Severy Montgomery Gautier E ’62, passed away on March 17, 2022, at the age of 77. She was born at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables on December 28, 1944. She attended Everglades School for girls, Coral Gables High School and the University of Miami. She is survived by former husband, Thomas Buckley, and their children, John Montgomery Buckley of Atlanta (Courtney and their children Cathrine, John Jr., Robert and Caroline) and Cathrine Buckley Sandoval of Denver (Julio and their son Liam), and preceded in death by husband, Gary Bunn Gautier, and their son, Redmond Bunn Gautier IV ’95, of Tallahassee, (Martha and their children Redmond V and Gary II) and brother John Montgomery (Linda and their extended family). She was a proud member of the Junior League, Beaux Art, Daughters of the American Revolution, and enjoyed playing with her bridge club at the Riviera Country Club. John Shepherd R ’68 passed away this past August and was buried in Thailand where he had been living the past several years with family close by. John always kept in touch with his classmates from 1968, even all the way from Thailand. His classmates mourn this tremendous loss.
