RE Log - Fall 2022
1975 Class Agent: Katherine Sullivan Lindseth (katelindseth@gmail.com) Merry Cole Bender and Kate Sullivan Lindseth , see Kim Duff Selby ’74 Susan Pringle Eckel writes, “I often think wistfully of our time together at Everglades. Time has flown by so quick- ly! In June, I will have been married for 38 years. I have two children and four grandchildren ... and am approaching retirement. Is anyone else being bom- barded by opportunities to sign up for Medicare?! I still think of myself as 14. We live in Indianapolis right now, where my husband’s position brought us. I had to look it up on a map before we moved here, as Indiana was definitely a concept. We love it here, though. My husband’s mother lived with us until a few weeks ago when she passed away – at 103 years old! Amazing. Eventually, we will move to Maine where my daughter, her hus- band and her children live. Meanwhile, my son is near us, here. We have kept ourselves fairly hermetically-sealed at home … and are all healthy. AND I miss you all.” See Eleanor Backman , In Loving Memory Roxi Vadia Morgenstern writes, “Hi all! I’ve been living in NYC, married, two grown kids, one granddaughter, retired, and am an RE alumni board member! Why do I serve on the alumni board? “1. Everglades/RE is an integral part of who I am, and serving on the board keeps me in touch with all that sets RE apart from other institutions – it’s a true labor of love and pride! “2. I’m able to support the mission of the RE alumni engagement office and help ensure that its core tenets are being fulfilled. That said, we launched an Everglades Steering Committee this year to explore new ways to appeal to, communicate with, engage and involve alumnae outside of milestone reunions. Communications, programming and ar- chival are our three subcommittees, and they play a vital role in the execution of the committee’s, and the alumni board’s mission. Please do not hesi- tate to reach out!” “Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art, like the universe itself … It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.” – C.S. Lewis “The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.” – Charles Dickens. Mary Ellen (Cohen) Scherl writes, “Lots of news! My oldest daughter Sophie is engaged to Eric Perloff – they met at Albany Med and will marry in April 2023. My son Zeke (middle child) and his wife Jennifer Coxe are expecting in December! My youngest daughter Isabel will be completing her PhD in Engineering at UW. Proud and happy mama! Last fall I founded ‘Defending Democracy: Portraits of U.S. Military Women on Canvas and Film.’ Check out our new website: usmilitarywomen.org . My studio is at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood. Stop by!”
