Hal Kendall represented the 1950s classes well at the inaugural 50 Year Club at Joe’s Stone Crab. Hal is photographed with David McCallister ’70. The 50 Year Club was introduced on Alumni Weekend and honors alumnae of Everglades School for Girls and alumni of the Ransom School who have celebrated their 50th high school reunions. More than 45 alumni attended the gathering at Joe’s and enjoyed stone crabs and catching up with classmates from 1972 and before. Thank you to Steve Sawitz ’75 and Joe’s for making this event so memorable for all involved. 1957 Please consider becoming a class agent. 1960 Class Agent: Joe Annis (jpannis@aol.com ) Joe Annis reports, “My last contact with any classmates was 12 years ago at our 50th reunion. Since then we have lost John Carpenter, our 1960 class represen- tative for many years; I have stepped up to continue his service. Little has changed for me since my last year’s report. I am still happily involved with Swan Songs, an Austin organization providing intimate, in-person musical last wishes at the end of life for patients, their families and friends. The full story about this meaningful orga- nization is online at www.swansongs.org. ” 1961 Class Agents: Charles Sands ( sandsvest@bellsouth.net ), Edward Seward (etseward1@gmail.com ) 1962 Class Agents: James Beverley ( jamescbeverley@bellsouth.net ), Arthur Smith (macuquina@me.com ) Jim Beverley attended Alumni Weekend this past April with Class of 1962 mem- bers Art Smith and August Burrichter . He let us know that seeing members of the Ransom Class of 1972 was a highlight. Teaching them made his decision to stay on as a teacher easy. He had intended to teach for just one year and go on to be a lawyer. Jim is currently recovering from back surgery. He hopes to be back for RE soccer season in October. Life is good!” 1968 Class Agent: Ned Moore (Nmoore157@gmail.com) Ned Moore was recently honored by his alma mater, Washington & Lee University, which presented him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The uni- versity bestows the award on graduates who have “led lives of purpose, integri- ty and achievement, exemplifying the finest traditions of the University.” The recognition highlighted Ned’s career in private higher education on the statewide and national levels, including his 12 years as President of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges. Ned’s vita also includes tenures as Vice President of Randolph-Macon College (Va.), Austin College (Tex.) and the national Council of Independent Colleges (D.C.). Now “mostly retired,” Ned lives in historic Williamsburg, Va., with Tina, his wife of 47 years. They have two grown children – a daughter who is an elementary school teacher, and a son who is an attorney – as well as three grandchildren. Ned continues, “As to ‘mostly retired,’ my last employer (Council of Independent Colleges) kept a string attached, asked me to stay connected to manage a program I created for private college consortia to share expenses for a pro to invest their endowments. Saves money all around. FYI, on the recommendation of one of my mem- bers, the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, we opened the door a little and allowed the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools (NCAIS) to join the program.
