RE Log - Fall 2022

24 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2022 37 years Where it all began I was born in Chicago and grew up in a south suburb, Harvey. I attended a Catholic elementary school and Marist High School, located in Chicago, then Purdue University. Life before RE Before coming to RE I was teaching at Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, Indiana. I was teaching science and was the head boys’ and girls’ cross country coach, head boys’ and girls’ track and field coach and junior varsity boys’ basketball coach. I was also working at a sleep-away camp, Camp KenMont, in Kent, Conn., during the summers. Jim Charlton, who was the director of the middle school at the time, and I had worked at camp together for a number of years. Jim told me about a position at RE and I applied. I found the faculty to be extremely friendly and welcoming. I remember interviewing with then Head of school Frank Hogan in the Pagoda. That interview was very relaxed and left me with a great feeling about RE. Fond Memories Receiving the Arthur Moses Faculty Award. Coaching the cross county team to a state championship in 2011. Attending the weddings of former students. Knowing a great deal of history of our school and seeing the growth and changes our school has gone through. Teaching the sons and daughters of former students. The good ol’ days When I first started, the middle school was made up of seventh and eighth graders only. Our school was smaller and it felt like you interacted with everyone on campus. Miami was also much smaller and it was much easier to drive in our city. The best part The best part of my experiences have been interactions with so many amazing and dedicated teachers and coaches. Developing those relationships has been extremely important.
