RE Log Spring 2021
66 Ransom Everglades LOG SPRING 2021 Class Notes Shante’ Haymore-Kearney writes, “In spite of an awful year globally, 2020 offered some personal and professional successes that I would like to share. In November 2020, I was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Time Volleyball Team for my athletic accomplishments as an NCAA D1 Volleyball player at Florida A&M University. This makes me one of the 50 outstanding student-athletes throughout the conference’s history. The listed accolades included: Two- time MEAC Player of the Year (2000, 2001); Two-time First Team All-MEAC (2000, 2001); 2001 MEAC Tournament Outstanding Performer. I started my vol- leyball career as a freshman on the var- sity team in 1994 at Ransom Everglades. Under the direction of Coach Penny Matthews, I experienced championship wins on the district and regional levels and as a state championship runner-up. I am so grateful for her steadfast support and encouragement of my talents and skills. I am also proud to share that I celebrated the two-year anniversary of my business, Brown Goddess Collective, a wellness community for women of ‘all shades of brown’ to have a space for well- ness and spiritual practices, like yoga, meditation and goddess circles taught for and by women of color. We pivoted to a virtual model in 2020, hosting morning meditations, online personal development courses and yoga classes. Our community and impact continue to grow, and we are looking forward to 2021 when we will launch our YouTube channel. Also, I recently accepted a new position as the Program Manager for S.O.U.L. Sisters Leadership Collective (SSLC), a non-profit based in Miami and NYC. SSLC provides a pipeline to leader- ship for black/brown girls and genders non-conforming youth through social justice, advocacy, community organiz- ing and healing arts programs. Daily, I work with emerging leaders, organizers and systems-involved youth to make a positive difference in their lives and communities.” Beatriz Mendoza (deceased), see Sergio Mendoza ’96 Adam Sendzischew was promoted to the position of Principal with Jones Lowry.
