RE Log Spring 2021
SPRING 2021 Ransom Everglades LOG 55 – and explores the value that landscape architecture brings to a project. Designed by Irma Boom, the book offers a collage of projects, sketches, bright colours and insightful analyses, and also includes an introduction by landscape architect Charles Birnbaum. 1969 Class Agent: Lili Krech Neale (liliandy@bellsouth.net ) Candace Shedden Donnelly writes, “As I sit around during this pandemic, reading, watching TV, playing bridge on-line, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing some tennis, I certainly can’t say I don’t have time to write a little something for the ‘Class Notes.’ In fact, I have too much time on my hands and find myself sitting in my chair, aghast at the sad, crazy happenings in the news on TV. The insurrection at our Capitol was just a few days ago, and it’s hard to believe our country looked and acted like a third- world country. I hope and pray that by February, America will have regained some of our sanity and will start to heal the deep fissures in our national fabric. Mike and I are well and looking forward to getting vaccinated soon. Both of us have had to put our bridge teaching on hold since March 15, 2020, because play- ing bridge in a room full of tables is one of the most dangerous things we could do, with being in very close proximity and the hands and cards being handled by many people. We don’t know when bridge clubs will reopen, but it won’t be anytime soon. My biggest disappoint- ment during the pandemic (which in the scheme of things is pretty minor) is that my son and daughter-in-law had their seventh child (!) – a boy – this past June we and missed the birth. We had a trip scheduled to see them but, of course, had to cancel. They now have three teenage girls and four boys under 10. They’re doing wonderfully, and we can’t wait until we can go visit and hug them all. One of the joys we’ve experienced this past year was using our free time to keep in better touch with friends and family. I hardly knew one of my brothers-in-law, but we’ve been texting daily about our lives, marveling at how much we have in common and have become very close. I hope you all are faring this storm safely and that this new vaccine will bring this terrible episode to an end.” Carolyn Singer Bollinger, see Joan Singer ’71 , In Loving Memory 1970 REUNION YEAR Class Agents: Gail Beckham (gailbeckham@gmail.com ), Melinda Cowen (melinda@cowendesign.com) , Cree McDougal Scudder (creescudder@gmail.com ) Cree McDougal Scudder writes, “Hello Class of ’70!!!
