They shifted their approaches. They embraced technology. Last fall, Ransom Everglades invited a few of the city’s artistic leaders to a virtual roundtable for the school’s 1903 Society. For more than an hour, they talked with Head of School Penny Townsend and Director of Advancement Melanie Hoffmann, trading stories, answering questions and sharing tips on how to overcome. The esteemed guests: •Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz, founders and directors of the de la Cruz Collection, who are also grandparents of alumni and parents of former RE board chair Carlos de la Cruz, Jr. Director of the de la Cruz Collection Melissa Wallen joined them. •Rose Ellen Greene, a member of the PAMM Board of Directors. She is also a former RE board chair who is a parent and grandparent of RE alumni. •Mark Handforth, a sculptor and current parent who created The Ringing Rock , which was installed in the Touzet Quadrangle this winter. • Stefanie Block Reed, a fine art consultant who has played an integral role with Art Basel Miami Beach since its inception. She is also the parent of RE alumni. • Jason Rubell, a current parent and former trustee, is co-founder of the Rubell Family Collection (RFC)/Contemporary Arts Foundation. It wasn't always this way.
