RE Log - Fall 2021
FALL 2021 Ransom Everglades LOG 55 through two philosophies: 1, the greatest excellence of student experiences is at the intersection of their talent, opportunity, and passion, and 2, do everything we can to help our students learn, grow, and accomplish their dreams – in that process we can never lose sight of their needs to be respected and loved.” Ignacio Rua writes, “I’m the proud parent of RE students Sofia ’24 and Lucas ’26 !” Julie Walsh writes, “I’m very excited to be curating and lecturing internationally on Mixed Reality Art.” 1982 REUNION YEAR Class Agents: Dave Bricker (dave@davebricker.com ), Gregory Glass (greg@gregoryglass.com ), Jennifer Keedy (jenwired@gmail.com ), Renu Mody (Miamieye@aol.com ) 1983 Class Agent: Bill Bailey (bill@baileyrealestateconsulting.com ) Scott Srebnick , see Class of 2021 Kathryn Lotspeich Villano writes, “Hello all. Dave Villano ’79 and I spend about a third of our time in Maine and have both kids ( Wesley ’15 and Ellie ’19 ) and their significant others here with us this week. They are happy and healthy, thank goodness. I’ve been learning a lot about forest management and carbon mitigation and have a project going here with that. I’m still on the en- dowment and operating boards of Lotus House Shelter for Women and Children in Overtown, an organization whose staff (and guests) never fail to inspire and amaze me with what they accomplish. Contact me if you want to know more about them!” 1984 Class Agent: Eliot Gelber ( egelber@msn.com ) Gretchen Graham , see In Loving Memory 1985 Class Agent: Stacey Deutsch Shoer ( shoerstacey@gmail.com) Brad Gould, Eric Gould and Mark Hoffman all had graduates in the Class of 2021. See Class of 2021 Rosa Eckstein Schechter , see former faculty member Jackie Collaso. Robbie Landon writes, “Last summer, I was ‘Father of the Bride’ as daughter Kirby (Landon) Johnson ’14 married her college sweetheart Paul S. Johnson, Jr., in Annapolis, Maryland, where they now live in a beautiful home close to the Naval Academy football stadium. Kirby’s bridesmaids included Isabelle Hernandez ’14 , and her maid of honor was her sister Claire Landon ’17 . Gaby Pavia ’14 also came to support Kirby and Paul. Here is a photo of the Ransom Everglades graduates soon after the church service. I am so happy that my mom and dad made it to the wedding, and especially so because my dad, Robert D. W. Landon, II, unexpectedly passed away several months later on Valentine’s Day. He was still working full-time as a trusts and estates lawyer and cruising on the boat with my mom … downeast Maine in the summer and the Gulf of Mexico in the winter. My dad (Kirby’s and Claire’s Grandpa) enjoyed coming onto the Ransom Everglades campus both in the early ’80s and later to attend his grandkids’ recitals and games. He made it to every Grandparents Day and helped out with the school’s planned giving pro- gram. A lot of great memories to cherish and many of them with an RE connec- tion. Scott Davis sent me a very kind condolence note and some very happy news too – he is the father of a seven- month-old daughter, named Addie. He sent a picture, and she is beautiful.” 1986 Class Agents: Pam Pennell Kelly (pam@kellyart.com ), Lissette Suarez Stancioff (lissettestancioff@gmail.com ) David Arnold and William Holly are now fathers of RE graduates. See Class of 2021 Christy Hertz writes, “I am a proud parent of three children. Two of my children are thriving at RE: Jessica Friedman ’23 and Matthew Friedman ’26. I am hoping that my third child, Alexa Schurr (grade 2), will follow in our RE footsteps. I am practic- ing family law at my firm, Hertz Sager, in Coral Gables and I often work with RE alumni.” Beth Tornek Schulman writes, “Like a lot of folks, I’ve hunkered down with the whole family for most of 2020, but I have truly enjoyed working with the Red Cross Emergency Services and as a Guardian Ad Litem. I am constantly hiking and love spending the day on the Appalachian Trail. We celebrated my son Benjamin’s graduation from Washington University, my daughter Sydney’s graduation from George Washington University, and my son Sam’s acceptance to Vanderbilt University. Wishing every- one a safe and healthy 2021!” Jeff Williamson , see Jamila Stephens ’12 1987 Class Agents: Adriana Atwill (lafuente@bellsouth.net ), Todd Poses (tsposes@aol.com) Carlos Watson continues to make the news.
