54 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2021 Andy Ansin was awarded the 2020 Head of School’s Award during Virtual Alumni Day this past April. This was the first year the award went to two recipients. He and Vanessa Chartouni- de la Serna ’90 shared this prestigious honor. See page 32. Chris Cobb writes, “We have almost completed the renovation of CocoWalk. We reduced the amount of retail and added an 80,000 sq. ft. office building. About half of our tenants are open for business, and the other half should be open by the end of this year – 2021. We have five new restaurants, a fully renovated movie theater and lots of cool retailers. Stop by and check out CocoWalk. (And a sad footnote, we lost Bill Epstein ’79 this year. Bill and I played football together at RE. Bill was involved with the construction of the original CocoWalk in 1990.) Lisa Landy writes, “Dear Class of ’81, It was great to REconnect (it’s cheesy but I couldn’t help myself) with so many of you at our virtual reunion (held off there, it’s just there are so many words that start with RE). We should be able to meet in person next time, and I am looking forward to it.” Lisa also shares, “ Alex Glaskowsky Leavell, Tammy Ho and I along with our broods took our annual summer trip this time to Tennessee. We rented a cabin which came equipped with quite a few brown bears to keep us company. It’s a beautiful place and a nice change from flat Florida. I wish everyone a good summer and send my best.” Louis LaFontisee , is now an alumni parent. His eldest son Louis LaFontisee IV is a member of the Class of 2021. Louis (IV) committed to sail at Tulane University, where he is a freshman. See also Class of 2021 Geoff McKee is the new Head of School at Don Soffer Aventura High School.
