FALL 2021 Ransom Everglades LOG 53 Lisa Shaw writes, “We’re excited to re- sume our U.S. re-entry from Spain after COVID-19 put a hold on exploring our new hometown of Washington, D.C. My high schoolers, Charlotte and Owen, are looking forward to in-person school. In the meantime, it’s college summer tours and a fun visit with Patty Shillington in Amherst, Mass. Older sister, Sophia, heads to Stockholm and Madrid for her junior year. Hola Madrileño Steve Hughes ’76 ! She’s counting on a student style free feed! Helping my daughters and nieces grow their small COVID inspired game company has been a great adventure. Their second escape- room-in-a-box game from Escape Notice Games launch[ed] in August. See page 24 and Class of 2021 David Villano , see Kathryn Lotspeich Villano ’83 1980 Class Agents: Clarence Cryer ( mrcryer@aol.com) , Ann Goodman (goodmanhomes@aol.com ) Clarence Cryer inspired the poetry competition in honor of Dan Leslie Bowden as part of our Virtual Alumni Day. All alumni were invited to sub- mit original poems. Alumni ranging from the Class of 1960 to the Class of 2020 submitted entries. Individuals participated from as far away as Japan. Judges included faculty emeriti mem- bers, Jane Dolkart, Kitty Proenza and Marian Turk, along with Associate Head of School John A. King, Jr., and Dan Leslie Bowden’s grandnephew Thomas Bowden. Judges reviewed all the poems submitted and selected three to read. The poems read were the following: “The English Teacher (for Dan Leslie Bowden)” by Kit Pancoast Nagamura ’77 “Someday I will love Kareena Rudra” by Kareena Rudra ’20 “snowflake” by Sally Nims Seaman ’70 Everglades School for Girls All poems are available to read online here: https://bit.ly/3yQa5oA. Joe Exum , see former faculty Christel Marin and Jerry Exum Keyvan Antonio Heydari , reporter and documentarian, was involved in produc- tion of the film Aquarela . In the movie, viewers are taken on a “cinematic journey through the transformative beauty and raw power of water.” Some of the scenes were shot in Miami. Elizabeth Lehr Matthews , see Class of 2021 Maggie Pearson joins the RE Advancement Office as Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement. Bill Shandor writes, “We are moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The altitude (7,000 ft), dry air, mountain views and blue state politics are the big draw. I con- tinue to coach swimming. My children are ages 14, 12 and 10.” Saneya Hassan Tawfik is the Clinic Director and Director of Assessment Services at the Psychological Services Center at the University of Miami. Saneya was elected President of the Association of Psychology Training Clinics. 1981 Class Agent: Lisa Landy (llandy420@gmail.com ) A thank you to Lisa Landy for leading the Class of 1981 Virtual Reunion effort and to Julie Walsh for designing a virtual tour of campus. Julie came up with this incredible concept after designing many successful virtual museum tours during the pandemic.
