SPRING 2020 Ransom Everglades LOG 51 1984 Class Agent: Eliot Gelber (egelber@msn.com ) Tony Cooper launched his first book in New York City in January. It was a really fun event made that much more special surrounded by old friends. The book, Diamond Goldfish , written with Tony’s business partner Travis Carson and seasoned author and keynote speaker, Stan Phelps, is a practical guide for thriving under pressure and excelling in today’s business environment. It is like a modern retelling of Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People that helps you build powerful relationships, through increased self and situational awareness, while acknowledging the increased pressure and challenges we all face, especially when we treat business like it’s life-or-death. 1985 Class Agent: Stacey Deutsch Shoer (shoerstacey@gmail.com ) Melissa O’Neill Albert writes, “I’ve been living in beautiful, booming Seattle for almost 30 years, after moving here from San Francisco for graduate school at UW [University of Washington]. My husband and I have two high school Ana Alas Gonzalez-Abreu , Principal at GAA Architecture I Interiors, recently completed the planning for Newsmax Corporate Offices in Boca Raton, Fla. The design entailed bringing under one 35,000-square-foot roof several depart- ments housed in several buildings and portraying a very Floridian contem- porary “vibe” for its corporate image. GAA was also hired to design the new Newsmax Bureau in New York’s class “A” Midtown East office high-rise. 1983 Class Agent: Edward Squire (edwardsquire@atlanticbb.net ) Mark Selawry writes, “Gosh, has it re- ally been 37 years? I think back to the RE days, and they seem so far away, almost disembod- ied. I’m a totally different person (no longer that shy boys at Seattle Academy and are starting to look at colleges. A few years ago I tran- sitioned into tech, after selling my small business. I co-founded a tech startup and am now the Director of Code for Change, a nonprofit working to increase diversity in tech. I’m focused on the future of work – upskilling and reskilling our human capital. I’d love to connect with any alumni in the area or ping me when you are in town for a visit.” Kelly Posner Gerstenhaber was presented the 2019 Alumni Founders’ Award at the 1903 Society event at the home of Constance and Mike Fernandez. See story page 35. 1986 Class Agents: Pam Pennell Kelly (pam@kellyart.com ), Lissette Suarez Stancioff (lissettestancioff@gmail.com ) David Arnold was named the Chief Medical Officer at Lennar Foundation Medical Center at the University of Miami. Kevin Byrd caught up with Cristi Mendoza Edmunds and William Holly in Dallas last fall. Cristi and William traveled with members of the RE water polo team who were there for a club competition. Their respective children Preston Edmunds ’20 and Hayes Holly ’21 both play for RE. geek you might have remembered). I’ve enjoyed life.
