Since Hurricane Michael made such a mess of our world up here in the eastern panhandle, we have been trying to acclimate ourselves to our loss of trees and shrubs and such devastation to businesses and homes. It is tough, almost a year and half later, to know that there are still years left to get it all together. And those stories of insur- ance companies … They are all true. Family and friends who are holding hands and lifting spirits and loving each other comes out strong in these life surprises. I do like surprises but for the remainder of my life I will settle for more pleasant ones, like grand baby #11, now three months old. One girl and 10 boys. Blessings from God do abound, including all of my Everglades friends. I promise to get in touch. The photo below is of our family minus our daughter’s husband, Mike, who is active duty National Guard. He was on duty that weekend so missed the occasion. Our daughter Colleen is the dark-haired beauty in the front row with babe in arms and her fifth boy on board as well. Quentin was born four months later. That is why when you count children you only see 10. We were all together for the christening of Byron Kevin, our third son’s second son. He is the baby who slept almost all the way through Hurricane Michael. His daddy says he is still a good sleeper.” 1964 Class Agent: Connie MacLeod Bischoff (mrsb9879@me.com ) Dorcas Hardy , see In Loving Memory 1965 Class Agent: Carol Ann Norton Rogers (carolannrogers@prodigy.net) 1966 Please consider becoming a class agent. 1967 Class Agent: Liz Cowen (ejcown@gmail.com) 1968 Class Agent: Jeanne Weinkle (jeanneweinkle@gmail.com) 1969 Class Agent: Lili Krech Neale (liliandy@bellsouth.net ) Callie Ricketson , resident of Australia, responds to messages from Everglades classmates after the Australian bushfires in 2020. “Thanks for the love and well wishes; nice to hear from you. I live on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides so I’m pretty safe. I am only affect- ed by the smoke haze which sometimes makes it hard to breathe. It has started to rain now in Sydney thank goodness. The main fire front has now moved south but is really slamming them down there. I feel for the firemen, all the people who have lost their homes, and all the won- derful wildlife that has been wiped out. These fires are the worst ever!!! They have been burning for months; they will eventually burn out.”
