David Harris ( Remzy.com founder) and Michael Simkins (CEO Lion Group) served as judges for the 7th Annual Business Plan Challenge this past March alongside Elana Oberstein-Harris ’93 (RE trustee and physician). This year’s first-place finish went to...PetFit: Anders Aagaard ’21 (son of Steph Sayfie Aagaard ’88 ), Sam Lindemann ’21 , and Walker White ’21 (son of Jessica Meyeringh White ’91 ) did an outstand- ing job of pitching their idea for a harness that would monitor the health of your dog. Second place went to Tune-Up: Jonah Bennett ’21, Javier Garcon ’21 , and Jordan Hoffman ’21 (son of Mark Hoffman ’85 ) for their spirited pitch of an innovative platform that would help people develop their interest in music. Rachel Unger is married to Michael Feldman, an attorney; they have been married for 15 years. Rachel is in her 21st year of teaching and is currently a fifth-grade teacher at North Beach Elementary School. She is ecstatic that her children Max Feldman ’26 and Ellie Feldman ’27 are both attend- ing Ransom Everglades Middle School. Outside of her professional life, Rachel is engaged in social justice work in Miami: she is (1) the vice president on the executive committee at People Acting Community Together (P.A.C.T.), an interfaith organization that works to make systemic change in Miami- Dade County; (2) the co-chair of the Social Justice Network at Temple Beth Sholom; and (3) a board member with the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Miami Section. For the past two years, the family’s social justice work has been with Food Rescues US Miami/ Broward. They rescue food from Whole Foods Market that would otherwise be thrown away and take it to Lotus House, a shelter for battered women. During COVID-19, they worked with World Central Kitchen to take meals to healthcare workers at Mount Sinai Medical Center. They have now shifted to working with local restaurants to fund the making of meals and serving them to those that are food insecure. The award honors estate planners, trust officers and financial and wealth manag- ers who encourage and present phil- anthropic opportunities to clients who are planning their estates and intend to support the American Cancer Society. Eric is a member of the Florida Bar who practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration. Eric has been recognized by Super Lawyers- Rising Stars, “Top Rated Estate Planning and Probate Attorney, South Florida,” and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel as a “Florida Fellow.” Eric frequently lectures on the topics of pro- bate administration and estate planning, and he participates as a member of the American Cancer Society’s Nationwide Gift Planning Advisor Council. He has worked with clients to solidify count- less estate gifts to the American Cancer Society, truly demonstrating his com- mitment in leading the fight for a future world without cancer.
