RE Log - Fall 2020

FALL 2020 Ransom Everglades LOG 53 Heidi Fishman Waldmann writes, “In December 1980, we adopted our two children from Korea. Today, they each received KF94 masks from the Korean government. What does this say about a country that they can have their COVID-19 problem so under control that they are willing and able to send masks to each and every one? Ten in the first shipment, 40 more to come, because they assume the adoptees will have spouses and children. PRETTY AMAZING, NO? And how pitiful we look in comparison that we will neither require nor provide masks for our people right at home.” Heidi also shared that South Korea is also in the process of sending one million masks to foreign veterans of the Korean War. 1968 Class Agent: Jeanne Weinkle (jeanneweinkle@gmail.com) 1969 Class Agent: Lili Krech Neale (liliandy@bellsouth.net ) 1970 REUNION YEAR Class Agents: Gail Beckham (gailbeckham@gmail.com ), Melinda Cowen (melinda@cowendesign.com) , Lucretia McDougal Scudder (creescudder@gmail.com ) R. Joanna shares her beautiful poem and her final conversation with Eila. A long-time RE friend and supporter, Eila Rago lived in the Miami area for nearly 60 years before moving to Colorado in 2016 to be nearer to her daughter. Eila had a long career in banking, as well as civic involvement through her volunteer work with a number of organizations in South Florida. She was a mother of two, grandmother of six and great-grand- mother to four. Joanna writes, “In our last daily phone call the morning before she died, Eila told me about a dream she had about being on the campus of Ransom Everglades. She was so excited recalling this dream!
