In 2018 I was assigned to the Special Prosecutions Section where we prosecute victim-based crimes, including gang violence, sex trafficking, labor traf- ficking and crimes against children.” Peter DeMaria writes, “After spend- ing 11 glorious years in the sunshine of Miami, I once again ventured into the frigid north for medical training at the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health as a fellow in oncol- ogy and hematology with a focus on drug development and early phase clinical trials. This summer, I will transition to a new role as NCI-FDA Interagency Oncology Task Force Fellow. Pictured here is a great RE turnout at Drew Tilghman’s wedding in Cleveland in September with Kent Escalera, Stephen Hinterkopf , Matt McGrath, Enrique Alvarez , Jordan Rubinstein , and Alex Recalt (and me) in attendance.” Justin Luger writes, “In December 2018, I reached a milestone by making partner at my law firm, Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, where I am a commercial and government litigator out of our Coral Gables office. I am always looking to connect and REconnect with other RE alumni.” Cory Needle was promoted to partner in Bain & Company’s New York office this past summer. He initially joined the firm’s Boston office in 2006 and relo- cated to the New York office in 2014 to be closer to his then-girlfriend (now wife) Gaby. Cory works with clients in the me- dia and telecom and education industries with a focus on business model redesign and customer strategy. His biggest up- date is that on November 24 he and his wife were blessed to welcome their son Gabriel into the world. Ari Mark moved back to Miami in 2018 after more than a decade in New York to head up corporate partnership sales for the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium. He and his wife Ali have two young sons, Ryan and Coby. Ali, a clinical psychologist, recently opened a psychological evaluation and assessment practice in Miami. Michael Mijares writes, “My wife, Gabriella, and I welcomed to the world a baby girl on August 23, 2018, Olivia Grace Mijares (pictured below). I’m cur- rently a fourth-year orthopaedic surgery resident at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital pursuing a fellowship specialization in orthopaedic sports medicine.” Elizabeth Orlin married RE fac- ulty member James Oxsalida this past November. Sergio Sotolongo relocated to Los Angeles, Calif., in September after accepting a position with DoubleLine Capital. Sergio is working on their CMBS/CRE desk in a portfolio and as- set management capacity. He was with Rialto Capital in Miami for the previous eight years. 2003 Class Agents: Lauren Miller (laurenrachelmiller@gmail.com ), Annie Stamps (annie.stamps@ me.com ) Janelle Milanes launched her next book, Analee in Real Life , at Cafe Con Libros in Brooklyn on October 12. Janelle also took part in the Miami Book Fair on November 18 at Miami Dade College. Janelle visited both RE cam- puses to speak to both Middle School and Upper School students about her career in publishing on November 19. She shared tales about Analee in Real Life , her second teen novel, and her de- but book, The Victoria In My Head . She talked about the art of writing and took questions. She also shared with pride that her second book merited a New York Times book review on Nov. 18, and even talked about her first novel – one that wasn’t picked up by a major publish- ing house and therefore not published. Janelle stopped at Ransom Everglades after having served on a young adult book panel – “Young Adult Authors on Love, Loneliness, and Everything in Between” – with David Levithan and Ngozi Ukazu at the Miami Book Fair at
