Alumni board president Agustin “Konky” Arellano ’90 and 2018-19 Alumni Fund Chair Vanessa Chartouni-de la Serna ’90 have led this year’s effort along with parent co-chairs Elana Oberstein Harris ’93 and Geoff Harris and Ashley and James Cusack. Alumni goals are once again to surpass $1 million dollars and 30-percent participation. Visit www.ransomeverglades.org/make-a-gift to make a gift. The Young Alumni Event at the Taurus on Nov. 21, 2018, once again helped kick off the holidays. Greeting guests were L-R: Andrew Cummings ’04 , Thomas Willis ’04 , Daniel Whyte ’04 and Alex Markel ’04. Scott Shaw ’78 and sister Lisa Shaw ’77 , who flew in from Barcelona, hosted a reception for Head of School Penny Townsend and RE alumni in the Capitol area on Oct. 16, 2018, at Virtue Feed and Grain. Just a few weeks later, Penny Townsend gathered with alumni in the Chicago area. Head of School Penny Townsend invited RE alumni at Vanderbilt University to a mini-reunion at Nada during her visit to Nashville in November. Mike Malinin ’85 , musical director for Tanya Tucker, joined the group. Robert Newman ’95 and Nelly Farra ’96 led the alumni effort to help prepare seniors for the college process by offering mock interviews on campus on Oct. 7, 2018. Students find this event very helpful as many of the alumni serve as interviewers for their respective colleges and universities. Two parents also participated.
