84 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2019 The Brown University sailing team hosted the 2019 Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Spring National Championships at Sail Newport, R.I., in May 2019. Three recent Ransom Everglades graduates participated in the National Championship regattas: Shawn Harvey (Yale ’21) , Tucker Weed (Brown ’22), and Alex Sidi (UM ’21). Natalia Doris ’13 (Yale ’17) was on site the last day to cheer the Yale Bulldogs to a second-place finish in the coed national championship. All the RE grads enjoyed reconnecting! Since Brown was hosting the 11-day event, Tucker, freshmen skip- per on the Brown team, was involved as a member of the Race Committee. Alex, starting sophomore crew, sailed in the A division for the Hurricanes in the coed semifinals. Unfortunately, UM barely missed advancing to the finals. Shawn was one of the starting skippers for the Yale team that won the Team Race National Championship over Memorial Day weekend, and the starting B division skipper on the coed team that placed second in the coed national champion- ship. He was also named an ICSA Coed All-American Skipper. Yale also won the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy for best overall collegiate team. Shawn is also pictured with ICSA All-American Crew Graceann Nicolosi, (Yale ’20) who sailed in high school for the Antilles School in St. Thomas, USVI. Antilles and RE are friendly revels on the high school circuit.
