RE Log Fall 2019

FALL 2019 Ransom Everglades LOG 79 Dwanita L. Fields writes, “In April 2019, I was selected as a Mandela Washington Fellowship Reciprocal Exchange Awardee, which gave me an opportunity to travel to Tanzania in July 2019. My goal was to assist in efforts to improve sanitation and hygiene condi- tions in the remote regions of Kigoma in a district called Buhigwe by providing supplies and education to villagers. I as- sisted in the procurement and distribu- tion of SATO toilet plates to households and provided workshops to primary school students and teachers to encour- age participation in Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) clubs throughout the schools. I recently founded a nonprofit organiza- tion called Leading with Love, which is a cultural leadership program designed to develop the leadership skills of young girls from under-resourced back- grounds, empowering them to become change agents inside and outside of their communities by providing mentorship, leadership development, and cultural immersion experiences. Leading with Love’s intent is that all young girls have the opportunity to expand the vision for their lives by exploring the world and discovering the vast community outside of their city blocks. When young girls are given the opportunity to see the world, their idea of self, their ability to dream, and their sheer potential become limitless. www.toleadwithlove.org dwanita@toleadwithlove.org 2001 Class Agents: Josefina Farra (josefina.farra@gmail.com ), Eugene Montoya Alessandri (ekmontoya@ outlook.com ), Blair Reinarman (blair44@gmail.com ) Marley Lewis writes, “My husband, Yevgeny Vilensky, and I welcomed our son, Liev, on May 23, 2019.
