26 Ransom Everglades LOG )$// How essential is your work for RE to your core business? From a busi- ness perspective, the legal work for RE represents a small part of my business. But from an emotional perspective, it takes up a very high percentage of my bandwidth because I feel so passionately about the school, and I’m trying to help the school accomplish what its leaders believe needs to be accomplished. I spend a lot of my waking days thinking about Ransom Everglades. How significant was the acquisi- tion of the La Brisa land? This is the PRVW VLJQL¿FDQW GHYHORSPHQW DW WKH 8SSHU 6FKRRO MXVW IURP D SXUH IRRWSULQW standpoint since 1903. As an alum and a former parent, I always saw the value of that property, and I don’t mean in an economic sense. It’s really exciting when \RX KDYH WKH EHQH¿W RI LQVLJKW LQWR KRZ the land is going to be incorporated into the school, not just in terms of bricks and mortar, but in terms of the ethos of the school. So personally, I jump up and down with excitement. As a professional, I try to be a little more measured in my response. What’s next for you and Ransom Everglades? I’m always available if the school needs me! After college, I was very involved with Harvard; I co-chaired RXU ¿IWK UHXQLRQ %XW , PRYHG GRZQ here and just felt that I could have more impact at Ransom Everglades, just felt a greater bang for my buck in terms of time. I could see things happen through my volunteer commitments. The full import of what we have accomplished in the last couple years hasn’t hit me yet, because it still hasn’t come out of the JURXQG , ORRN IRUZDUG WR WKH SD\Rɣ RI what goes on inside those buildings, and what gets taken out of those buildings, and how that pollinates through the community and throughout the country.
