RE LOG Fall 2017
78 Ransom Everglades LOG FALL 2017 at a boutique documentary production company. My role included managing a team, working on several documentary projects, and writing lots of grants to raise money for these projects. Grant after grant after grant. So many grants. I was beginning to think this wasn’t the kind of work I wanted to be doing. Then one day an office mate I barely knew who was trying to raise money for his documentary asked me what I knew about Kickstarter … we worked around the clock sending personal emails to friends and family and pitching press to cover the project. By the last day of the 30-day campaign, we surpassed our $35,000 goal by more than 150 percent, raising over $80,000. I was immediately hooked.” Emily Carsch begins her MBA at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University this fall. She will matriculate with her fellow RE ’06 classmate, Will Hoelle . I was not only OVER the New York winters but I was ready for a career change, a fresh start to do something I was actually passionate about. When I got to Miami I did some soul searching and I realized I wanted to help others through holistic nutrition. So I decided to get my Health Coaching Certification and I have been certified for about four months now. I coach virtually so I can coach clients all over the world. I am all about habit and lifestyle change vs. deprivation and quick-fix diets. With clients I’m part cheerleader and part tough-love coach. Because the thing is, we all know what to do, but we don’t always do it. And that is where a health coach comes in to guide you, support you and keep you accountable so you make lasting changes in your health, mind and body. I am doing talks around the Miami community on ‘How to Kick the Sugar Habit’ … please feel free to visit my website: www.byebyebloat.com .” 2008 Alex Benjamin reports that he received his MBA in June from Stanford Graduate School of Business as an Arjay Miller Scholar – the top 10-percent of his class – and Arbuckle Leadership Fellow.
